Welcome to MealScan AI. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MealScan AI app, website, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. By using MealScan AI, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We're not liable for losses caused by unauthorized access if you didn't safeguard your sign-in.

3. Subscriptions and payments

MealScan AI offers paid subscriptions (monthly and yearly). Pricing, features, and free-trial duration are shown in the app before purchase.

• Payments are processed by Apple via the App Store.
• Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Manage or cancel from Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device.
• Free trials convert to paid unless canceled before the trial ends.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy.

4. Health disclaimer

MealScan AI is a fitness and nutrition tracking tool, not a medical device or healthcare provider. Calorie and macro estimates are approximations and should not be relied upon for medical decisions. Consult a qualified professional before starting any diet, exercise, or weight-loss program — especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes or in violation of these Terms.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law.
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service.
• Submit content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful to others.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, models, logos, and content, is owned by MealScan AI and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as meal photos and notes) but grant us a limited license to process it solely to operate the Service.

7. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or expose us to legal risk. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MealScan AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your jurisdiction of residence, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, unless required otherwise by mandatory consumer protection law.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or via email at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
